Nicholas Benedict is known for his ability to drive growth by creating new revenue streams and optimizing existing ones. His primary area of expertise is in digital marketing, accompanied by a deep background in strategy, service operations, and finance. He recently exited his last company in a trade sale after founding and building it to encompass a powerful digital marketing platform, hundreds of products and services, year-over-year revenue growth of >20% over twelve years, and a corporate infrastructure to support 70+ staff and operations in 30 countries.
Nicholas currently serves as non-executive Chairman of Heaven Tea Co. and sits on the Board of Directors of Mobilosophy, Gainsmaker, and LaughMD. In addition to his Board responsibilities, Nicholas provides advisory services to small and medium sized businesses that need a new growth trajectory.
In his previous experience as Chief Development Officer of SkyEurope Airlines, Nicholas helped obtain a crucial financing round from new investors. As an internal consultant with Capital One, Nicholas created and launched two new products, generating $150MM/year in incremental revenue. At Mercer Management Consulting, Nicholas lived for a year in South Africa leading a fast-track turnaround of the most unprofitable business unit of the South African railroad. He also modeled and presented the business case for what became a successful $5.6 billion dollar merger in the energy industry.
Nicholas is also an experienced presenter and brand evangelist. In promoting his last business, he was a regular guest on high-profile TV shows, including The Today Show, Dr. Phil, Tyra Banks, ABC Nightline, and wrote regular columns in prominent lifestyle magazines as well as a well-received book on social dynamics and interpersonal relationships.
As an independent director who seeks to make a tangible contribution to boards, Nicholas has been actively involved in the American College of Corporate Directors, as well as the National Association of Corporate Directors, where he is pursuing a Fellowship.
Nicholas holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and a bachelor’s degree in History from McGill University in Montreal, and was awarded scholarships for academic and leadership performance at both. He has global experience, having worked in 9 countries on 4 continents and is functional in French and German.
Nicholas lives in Los Angeles, CA. In his free time, he plays a leadership role in the Los Angeles Toy Loan Program for underprivileged children and also performs as a stand-up comedian at local comedy clubs, charity events, and festivals.
